Boys Varsity Soccer Defeat Creekview 1-0, Friday, March 19th

The Bears defeated Creekview High School 1-0 in an important boys 6-A region soccer match, Friday, March 19th. The victory was a solid step forward for Cambridge coming off a heart-breaking 1-0 loss to region rival John's Creek on Tuesday, March 9th.

Carter Johnson slotted home the lone goal of the match midway through the first half after a heads-up play taking the ball away from the Creekview keeper.

The close score did not reflect Cambridge's possession dominance as well as many more opportunities created by the Bears to score goals. However, as soccer goes, if you do not finish your chances, the other side can always get themselves back in the game. Enter junior goalkeeper, Daniel Bojcic, who came up with a massive save with just 7 minutes to play after a Creekview attacker broke free and rifled a shot into the fast reacting Bojcic.

It was truly a team effort for the Bears to come up with a victory with the strength of play coming right up the middle of the formation providing for our first multi-player TrustWorkz Man of the Match.

On defense, Patrick Bourne and senior Brett Highlander remained steady and timed their tackles and ball distribution really well. Daniel Bojcic was solid & steady in goal.

In the midfield, seniors Erik Holmen and Jeffrey Rael maintained consistent possession to keep Creekview off the ball.

And, up top, in addition to his game-winning goal, Carter Johnson made several slashing runs to keep the Creekview defense unsteady.

Great result for the Bears and now onto some key region matches.
