Cambridge Boys Varsity Soccer Defeats Local Rival Milton 4-2, Friday, February 19th

Friday, February 19-Milton, Georgia

Friday night's match versus local rival Milton High School did not disappoint.

Early in the first half Senior Carter Johnson scored the game's first goal. In a congested Milton goal area Johnson created just enough space with a little shake & some trickery before calmly slotting the ball past the goalkeeper. This would be Johnson's first of two goals on the night earning the #9 a TrustWorkz Man of the Match performance.

Later in the first half Johnson bagged the Bear's second goal running in behind the Milton defense and again calmly finding his finish.

Before the first half was up Milton won a controversial hand ball call in the Bear's penalty area. Milton would convert the penalty going into halftime with a score of 2-1.

In the second half Senior Captain Erik Holmen continued put his stamp on the game winning several tackles, picking up loose balls, and fueling the bears attack with his creative kaleidoscope eyes. End to end play would progress before the Milton Eagles won their second penalty on the night. The Eagles would again convert the penalty tying the game at 2-2.

Despite Milton's mounting comeback the Bears stuck with halftime words from Coach Bryan Wallace asking the team to stay emotionally controlled and continue to focus on their game plan. With Wallace's words echoing the Bears would earn their third goal from super sub Junior Nico Espinel. Within seconds of stepping onto the pitch, from the top of the box, Nico hit a game winning first time strike into the far post side netting.

The lively Haris Osmanbasic would clinch the game for the Bears with a fourth goal completing the Bear's performance.

After the match, TrustWorkz Man Of The Match, Senior Carter Johnson, said this, "I wanted to beat Milton. Last year's high school season was cut short due to Covid and we were unable to play. As a freshman played JV and as a sophomore I wasn't able to get as many minutes against Milton as I would've liked. To beat them with a performance like this means a lot. It was a team performance."
