Boys Varsity Soccer Play Short Handed, Lose to Cross Keys, Friday, February 5th

Tough loss Friday night, Feb. 5, 2021 as Cambridge loses 4-1 to a dynamic and technical Cross Keys.

The match started out very open exciting both benches and fans.

Cross Keys scored early from a right wing cross and header finish at the back post. Cambridge did not take long to equalize with some beautiful wide play finding Haris Osmanbasic on the left wing beating his man and beating the Cross Keys' goalkeeper to find the far post side netting.

The match took a turn for the worse when the Bears went down to 10 men conceding a penalty and a red card. Daniel Bojcic made in fantastic save stopping the penalty giving new life to the Bears.

Despite going down a man the Bears battled until the end of the half going into halftime down 2-1.

In the second half the Bears continued pressing and began playing more direct creating goal scoring chances from Senior Carter Johnson and Junior Haris Osmanbasic.

TrustWorkz Man of the match, Colin Clark had an exceptional night at right back getting to the end line serving several quality crosses and working hard defensively as his team held on with 10 men.

Despite being on the doorstep several times including cries for Cross Keys handball in what maybe should've been a Cambridge penalty the Bears were unable to pull out the comeback.

Lots of positives to take away from the non-region preseason game including stand out performances from Brett Highlander, Carter Johnson, Haris Osmanbasic, Colin Clark, Jack Sherry and both Cambridge goalkeepers Daniel Bojcic & Christian Lopez.

The Bears will go again on Tuesday evening, Feb. 9th at 8:00 pm as they meet Denmark High School for the first time in an away match at Denmark.

Go Bears!
