Cambridge Boys Soccer Falls To Roswell in Frigid Friday Fixture

MILTON, Ga. – The Cambridge Bears were unable to capitalize on multiple first half opportunities falling to Roswell 3-0 at CHS Stadium on a freezing late evening matchup on Friday, February 7th.

Cambridge controlled large spells of the first half with a dominant possession game, but were unable to find the finishing touch and find the back of the net. The best opportunity in the early going was a Carter Johnson (2021) shot inside the box at the 10-minute mark. Roswell was content to play long ball counterattacks when they did gain possession and a goal at the 12-minute mark gave the Hornets the early lead. The Bears immediately responded with a headed effort by Eric Holmen (2021) and a pair of Reece Degen (2020) shots but came away empty. Degen's left footed shot from outside the box looked promising in the 31st minute. Johnson then came very close on a breakaway in the 33rd minute, but the goalie just got enough of the ball to keep the Hornets advantage. To add to the Bear's frustration, Roswell then added another counter-attack goal at the 38th minute to make the score 2-0 going into halftime.

After an early surge in the second half, Roswell added a 3rd goal in the 50th minute to put a dagger in any hopes of a Cambridge comeback. Torren Celio (2020) had two excellent saves in the late going to keep the margin from growing.

The Bears next match is at home against Etowah on Tuesday, February 11th at 7:30PM.

Go Bears!
