Cambridge Boys Soccer Finish Regular Season with 6-1 Win vs. Dunwoody, Tuesday, April 16th

Tuesday – April 16th – The Bears travelled to Adams Stadium to play their final regular season and region play match against Dunwoody, needing a win to control their own destiny in seeding for the AAAAAA GHSA State Playoffs.  

The match started with Dunwoody sitting back in the midfield and back line not wanting to give the Bears an advantage or opportunity to score.  The result was the Bears controlled possession 70% of the time in the 1st and found the back of the net at the 7:16 mark when Christian scored off an assist from Austin; Cambridge 1-0.  Then Dunwoody scored a far post goal at the 2:01 mark to tie the score at 1-1, which is how the first half ended. 

The second half opened with some back and forth play and then at the 34:34 mark Omar scored off an assist from Lucas; Cambridge 2-1.  Then 3 minutes later at the 31:37 mark JT, on a solo run, found the back of the net with a knuckle ball that skipped past the keeper; Cambridge 3-1. 

At the 16:41 mark Austin intercepted a goal kick and slotted passed a diving keeper; Cambridge 4-1.  Then six minutes later, at the 10:06 mark Trey passed the ball into the net off an assist from Austin; Cambridge 5-1.  The final score of the night came at the 3:58 mark when off a corner kick when Ethan found JT at the back post for a score; Cambridge 6-1, which is how the match ended. 

With the result Cambridge ended the regular season 12-5 and region play 6-2 and earned a 3 seed for the GHSA State Playoffs.  The Bears first match will be away against Allatoona and April 26th .  Make plans now to travel to Allatoona and support your Bears!
