March 26th Tuesday – The Bears Boys Varsity Soccer Team entered Senior Night 4-2 in Region play and 9-4 overall, needing a win to secure a spot in the GA AAAAAA State playoffs for the 5th year in a row.
The pitch was sloppy as a downpour started just before the Senior Night festivities. However the rain did not deter the Bears as they opened scoring at the 28:01 mark of the 1st half when Christian Guzman found the back of the net off an assist from Ben Barfield; Cambridge 1-0.
Then at the 12:23 mark in the 1st half, Ethan Rose hit a direct kick from 20 yards out; Cambridge 2-0, and at the 7:20 mark Omar Dhrif found the back of the net; Cambridge 3-0 and that is how the 1st ended.
The second half was back and forth until the 12:24 mark when Omar Dhrif scored from an assist from Christian Guzman; Cambridge 4-0. Trey Rielly scored the final goal of the match for the Bears a minute later for the 5th score on the night.
Bears' win 5-0 and clinch a spot in the GA State AAAAAA playoffs!
