The Bears soccer team traveled to North Atlanta, Friday, March 22nd, to play a squad that was much more challenging than the score line of the match or their record. North Atlanta entered the match winless in Region 7 but improving each time out and this could have been a trap match for the Bears if they were not focused on the job at hand.
The Bears opened the scoring at the 19:40 mark of the first half when Ethan Rose found Jack Tindle, Cambridge 1-0. Less than 9 minutes later at the 10:39 mark Omar Dhrif found Christian Guzman who found the back of the net, Cambridge 2-0 and that is how the first half ended.
Cambridge opened the scoring in the second half when Ethan Rose found Nico Restrepo in front of the net, Cambridge 3-0. Cambridge controlled the match until the 13 minute mark of the second half when a hand ball in the box gave North Atlanta a kick from the spot which they converted, Cambridge 3-1. Less than a minute later at the 12:30 mark with the ball pinging around in front of our goal North Atlanta poked the ball in the back of the net, Cambridge 3-2. The two quick goals gave new life to North Atlanta and added some intensity to the match, then at the 12:06 mark Ethan Rose dropped the ball on a streaking Carter Johnson's foot who touched it twice and found the back of the net, Cambridge 4-2.
At this point Cambridge regained control of the match and Lucas Pegorer netted the last goal at the 0:27 mark, Cambridge 5-2.
Next up for the Bears is Johns Creek in another important Region 7 match, Tuesday, March 26th. This is senior night and the last regular season home match for the Bears.
