Boys Varsity Soccer Takes 3-0 Region Win over Centennial, Friday, March 8th

The Cambridge Boys Varsity Team overcame a stormy halt to the game and finished with a late Friday night 3-0 region win over Centennial High School on March 8th.

Cambridge started strong and dominated possession through the first half of the rainy game.  However, despite all the effort by the Bears, the score remained 0-0 at the half.

As the second half began, lightning lit up the sky.  Cambridge was about to take a corner kick when the game ceased play for what turned into a 45 minute weather delay.

After the lightning passed and clearance to resume play was made, the Bears came out with a vengeance and continued to battle through the cold and often heavy periods of rain.  A set piece play turned out to be a game changer when Omar Dhrif scored on a well placed corner kick to give the Bears a 1-0 lead.  Then, within minutes, Carter Johnson returned down field with a beautiful shot on goal.  Cambridge was now up 2-0.

Finally, with minutes to go in the game, another corner kick resulted in a one touch goal by Trey Rielly.  Final score 3-0 Cambridge.

The Varsity boys will face another tough region opponent on the road with their next game Tuesday, 3/12 at Alpharetta High School.  Kick off is at 7:55 p.m.

Go Bears!
