Cambridge Boys Soccer Defeats North Atlanta 5-1 to Improve to 14-1-0, Friday, April 13th

Cambridge Boys Soccer traveled to North Atlanta High School, Friday, April 13th to play an important Region 7 match against a dangerous opponent in a potential trap match, however the Bears were focused and composed as they once again controlled the tempo and pace of the match.

North Atlanta had athletic strikers who high pressed and double teamed our back line and defensive midfield at every turn of the match. While there were a few errant decisions by our Bears, either the player or a teammate recovered to help clean up the mistake.  The pitch was narrow and short which initially played to the home team's advantage but our Bears quickly adapted with Jarvin Ramirez finding Reece Degan for a goal at the 4 minute mark, Cambridge 1 North Atlanta 0.  There was back and forth play for most of the 1st half, which Cambridge controlled, until John Crawley scored 2 quick goals in the 32nd and 33rd minutes making the score Cambridge 3 North Atlanta 0.  As the 1st half was coming to a close, fatigue from playing a game just two days earlier was becoming evident as there were a number fouls called on our Bears in the defensive half.  Eventually North Atlanta earned a corner kick at the 37th minute, which converted, via a header, into their only score of the night, Cambridge 3 North Atlanta 1.  The 1st half ended with Cambridge leading 3 to 1.

At the start of the 2nd half, North Atlanta began to chase the match which provided a number of defend-and-counter-attack opportunities for Cambridge. In the 48th minute Jarvin Ramirez found John Crawley's head in front the goal and the ball found the back of the net, Cambridge 4 North Atlanta 1.  Just 3 minutes later, in the 52nd minute, Jarvin Ramirez earned a penalty kick (PK) and scored the final goal of the match, Cambridge 5 North Atlanta 1.  In the final 20 minutes, North Atlanta played with 10 men due to a straight Red Card ejection.  With the result, Cambridge improves to 14-1-0 on the season and 6-1 in Region 7 play.

Next up for the Bears is a trip to Chattahoochee High School.  The game winner will be crowned Region 7 AAAAAA Champion and earn the #1 seat out of the Region 7 for the State Playoffs.  Last year, Hooch was the Region 7 Champion (celebrated the Championship on the Cambridge pitch) and the AAAAAA State Champion.  The match is at Chattahoochee High School at 7:55PM Tuesday April 17th

Come out and support your Bears to a Region Championship!!
