Bears Boys Soccer Improves to 13-1-0 with Win over #6 Lambert, Wednesday, April 11th

The Cambridge Bears honored their Seniors and hosted a very tough AAAAAAA #6 ranked Lambert Longhorns, Wednesday, April 11th.  Coach Wallace penned the following about his 2018 Seniors, "The Seniors in this year's class have taken a variety of routes to get to the 2018 Cambridge soccer team.  Whether coming from DA, moving from another state, or working their way up the ladder from our JV program, all have ended up impacting Cambridge soccer in a very meaningful way".

The Bears faced a very tough and skilled opponent in Lambert, which posed a defensive challenge throughout the 1st half of the match. While Cambridge controlled the possession and pace of the match and had several quality opportunities to score, including a remarkable bicycle shot on goal by Jarvin Ramirez, they could not find the back of the net. However, the Bears defense was organized and composed, not allowing Lambert a shot on frame in the 1st half, which showed on the scoreboard with 0-0 at the close of halftime.

The Bears continued to dominate possession during the 2nd half and in the 46th minute John Crawley had beautiful left footed strike into the side net; Cambridge 1 Lambert 0.  At this point, Lambert began to press the Bears' back line and in the 51st minute Ethan Rose hit a streaking Omar Dhrif over the top and in full stride, who found the back of the net, Cambridge 2 Lambert 0.

The Bears advantage opened up at this point with Lambert pressing offensively and taking risks against the Bears formidable defense.  Cambridge's third goal was scored when Omar Dhrif returned the assist favor to Ethan Rose, who collected the ball with his back to the goal and turned to put the ball out of the goalie's reach low and away left side, Cambridge 3 Lambert 0.

The final score of the match came in the 59th minute when Ethan Rose assisted John Crawley, Cambridge 4 Lambert 0.

What a special night for our Seniors and the Cambridge Soccer family.  A heartfelt shout-out to our Seniors who we love and will miss:  #4 John Barton, #2 John Crawley, #9 Sid "Sunny" Marupudi, #10 Jarvin Ramirez, and #19 Ryan Walker.  Thank you for your commitment to Cambridge Bears Soccer!  We send love and best wishes to each of you as you embark of your next journey! Well played Boys!
