Cambridge Varsity Boys Soccer Blanks Johns Creek 1-0; improves to 4-0 in Region Play

March 13, 2018 – Cambridge High School – A scrappy, less than 100%, Bears Men's Soccer Squad shut out a tough Johns Creek team 1-0 to move to 4-0 in Region 7 play and 10-0 for the season.

Cambridge was challenged by players recovering from knocks and a virus a number of the lads weathered.  From the opening whistle the match was intense with some early back and forth play until Cambridge settled in to control the pace and tempo of the match.  Johns Creek played and 3-5-2 and tried, unsuccessfully, to disrupt the build out of the back playing style of Cambridge.

At the 35thminute Jarvin Ramirez earned a foul 35 yards from the goal, Ethan Rose (assist) drilled the ball off the chest of a diving Johns Creek goalie and Trey Rielly was there for the rebound and pass the ball into the side netting, Cambridge 1 and Johns Creek 0.  Johns Creek had only one quality shot on goal during the first half which was at the horn to end the half.

The second half started with Cambridge kicking off and then possessing the ball most of the second half.  The Bears had many a scoring opportunity in the 2nd half but could not find the back of the net, our attacking players (John Crawley, Omar Dhrif, John Barton, Jabar Obeid and Jarvin Ramirez) gave the visitor's back line fits for most of the 2nd half, attacking in swarms.

The defense earned its 3rd clean sheet of the year and the 3rd in the last 4 matches.  All in all it was a solid team effort which was required to get the result against such a challenging opponent.  Well played boys!!

Next up for the Bears is Alpharetta which is 2-1 in Region 7 (3rd Place) and 7-1 for the year, at 8:00PM Friday March 16th at Cambridge.  The Bears are tied for 1st Place in Region 7 with Chattahoochee at 4-0.

Come out and support your Bears!!
