Boys Varsity Soccer Improves to 9-0 with Win Over Providence Christian Academy

Providence Christian Academy – Friday March 9, 2018

The Bears improved to 9-0 on the year after a 3-0 result against a scrappy Providence Christian Academy ("PCA") Storm squad.  Due to traffic issues Cambridge arrived at PCA at match time, so the match started 30 minutes after the published start time, 6:00PM.

The Bears started the match a little sluggish but controlled it the majority of the 1st half.  The Bears were called for off-sides multiple times in the 1st half, which negatively effected the flow of the match, compared to 2 in the 2nd half.  At the 20 minute mark the Bears earned a PK which was unsuccessful, but went on to score in the 25th minute, off a short corner, Ethan Rose struck a seeing eye ball through several Storm defenders which was redirected by Jack Tindle into the back of the net, Bears 1 and Storm 0.

The Bears had more than 15 shots on goal during the 1st half compared to PCA's 1.  As the 2nd half opened Cambridge continued to control the match playing mostly in PCA's half and at the 15th minute John Barton worked the end line brilliantly and found Omar Dhrif on the back side for the Bear's second goal, Cambridge 2 and PCA 0.

In the 25th minute, off a short corner, Jarvin Ramirez cross found the head of Jack Tindle who placed the ball back across the goal (right to left) into the side net for the 3rd and final goal of the match.  The Bears defense (Ethan Rose, Mitch Hardgrove, Jack Tindle, Treyson Rielly, Nico Restrepo, Ryan Walker, Brendan Vine and Jack Gaertner) earned the second clean sheet of the year for Cambridge, holding the host squad to 2 shots on goal for the match, well played boys.

Next up for the Bears is Johns Creek, who are 8-1-1 for the year and 1-0-0 in Region 7 play. This will be a very tough match for the Bears.

The match is at 7:55PM on Tuesday March 13th at Cambridge...Come out and support your Bears!
