Cambridge Boys Soccer Advances to Sweet 16 with Win over Tri-Cities, Thursday, April 27th

The Cambridge Boys soccer team advanced to the Sweet 16 for the second year in a row last Thursday night, April 27th with a 5-1 win over the Region 5, second seed, Tri-Cities Bulldogs.  Scoring on the night was a team effort with a 6-pack of different players having goals or assists.

Ethan Rose lead off the scoring for the Bears with a PK after a red card was issued to a Bulldog player for a hard foul in the Box.  Ethan then put the Bears in front for good by bending a corner kick into the net to give the Bears a 2-0 advantage.  With 7:46 left in the half, Jarvin Ramirez put on a foot fashion show and sent a gorgeous perfect pass into the box that John Crawley nailed into the back of the net to give the Bears a 3-0 lead at the half.  Reece Degan got into the assist action and placed a incredible ball to the foot of John Crawley who took advantage and scored his second goal of the night giving the Bears a 4-1 lead.  Austen Carranza rounded out the scoring when he put away a Jabar Obeid shot that ricocheted off the side post when Austen took the ball and one touched it into the upper 90.

Coach Wallace commented, "The score was deceiving because Tri-Cities was a very good team and they gave us a lot of trouble especially in the second half.   They came out really hard and although it wasn't a pretty win, we will take it as it's not easy to make it to the Sweet 16. " Now we get ready for Greenbrier who is a really talented team and we will do all we can to make it back to the Elite 8."

This is the second year in a row that the Bears have made the Sweet 16 game.

Game time for the game at Greenbrier in Augusta is 7:00pm on Wednesday May 3rd.

Go Bears!
