Cambridge Boy's Varsity Soccer Falls to Sequoyah 3-2, Tuesday, Apr. 21st

Cambridge Boy's Varsity Soccer Falls to Sequoyah 3-2, Tuesday, Apr. 21st

In a heartbreaker, Cambridge Boys' Varsity Soccer lost in the Region Tournament to Sequoyah 3-2, Tuesday, April 21st.

The Bears led most of the game with the first goal scored by a sharp passing progression to John Shayne who kicked it in.  Sequoyah scored on a penalty kick but Bears went in to half-time with a 2-1 lead thanks to a goal by Brett Stephens. The Bears held this lead until 10 minutes remained in the game when Sequoyah tied it 2-2. When overtime failed to produce a goal, it ended with the free kick shootout, which the Bears lost.

Coach Wallace was speechless with disappointment after the tough loss.  He felt his team played well enough to win and hated to lose another game in the post-overtime kicks.  He felt his team played really hard.  Unfortunately there were a few missed opportunities and the Bears came up short.

Man of the Match, Lucas LoPiccolo, attacked the ball well and controlled the ball.  He was effective in challenging the Sequoyah players at every opportunity. LoPiccolo is an impact player both in his defensive and offensive abilities as a midfielder. Bears fans can look forward to seeing more of this athletic key player next year.

Next game is Wednesday, April 29th, in Gainesville in the 1st Round of the GHSA State Tournament.

Go Bears!
