The Cambridge Varsity Men's Soccer team defeated Kell 3-2 Monday night, March 17th.
Cambridge made its intentions to win clear by scoring first with a goal from sophomore Alex Mueller. It was a fast-paced, intense game from start to finish. Cambridge held the lead the remainder of the game, but Kell threatened at every turn. It was a back and forth game with who controlled the ball, but a penalty kick taken by Mitchell Stephens was good to make the score 2-0. Kell answered with a goal.
Forward Brett Stephens scored goal number 3 for the Bears. Kell answered to make it 3-2, but the Bears' defense, led by the relentless Zack Midulla, held strong to fend off any further score by Kell.
Man of the Match, sophomore, Brett Stephens, played an effective game, with control and excellent footwork to out manuever the Kell defense. Brett manufactured the most scoring opportunities, and kicked in the final, critical winning goal.
Head Coach Bryan Wallace is excited his Bears now have a 4-1 region record.
Next game is at home against region opponent, Pope, on Monday. March 24, at 7:30 p.m.
