The Cambridge Men's Varsity soccer team lost 6-5 to Northview in overtime on Friday March 7th at Cambridge Stadium.
Brett Stephens scored the Bears' only goal in regulation play. The game remained tied at 1-1 after 2 overtime periods so the teams went to a shootout.
The Bears' MAN of the MATCH, goalie John Shayne, made several awesome saves throughout the game to keep it close. In standout fashion, Shayne blocked 2 of Northview's shootout kicks.
The current Varsity soccer team is performing significantly better over last year's 2-15 record. The coaches have higher expectations for this year's more competitive team and believe with continued hard work and focus they have playoff potential.
Next game: Providence Christian HS, Monday, March 10th at Cambridge.
Go Bears!
