Cambridge Boys Soccer Drop Season Opener to Alpharetta

Cambridge Boys Soccer Drop Season Opener to Alpharetta

Cambridge Varsity Boy's Soccer lost their season opener against Alpharetta High School with a score 1-0 Tuesday Feb. 18th.

Goalie John Shayne made two impressive back-to-back saves three minutes into the game while his defense heated up.  Although Alpharetta dominated the first half keeping the ball mainly on the Cambridge half of the field, the Bear defenders worked hard to keep the Raiders from scoring.

Highlights of the game included some noteworthy efforts by goalie Shayne;  a vertical leap above the crowd in front of his net to grab the ball, a sliding kick and a diving catch to stop some hard shots on goal.

Junior Zack Midulla played an aggressive defense, consistently breaking up the Raiders passing sequences. One yellow card was issued to Alpharetta in the game.

The more experienced, improved Bears team is looking forward to a successful season.

Come cheer for Cambridge Varsity soccer at their first home game this Friday, Feb. 21st at 7:30pm, against Mt. Pisgah.
