Bouncing back from their first loss in the past seven games, the Bears won big against North Forsyth, Tuesday, April 17th, in another area game, winning 15-5 on the strength of solid defense and efficient offense.  

The Bears smothering defense, led by the consistent trio of Seniors Will Covington, Jack Lech and Ryan Sadighian combined with aggressive offense made for a long game for the host Raiders. Nick Ganem continued to lead the charge at ground ball play securing six balls for the game---which helped ensure valuable possessions. 

The Bears scored early in the 1^st quarter with key goals by Sophomores Chase DuMond and Ian Dexter.  Facing a bit of early adversity due to a rare penalty called against Cambridge, the Raiders twice used lengthy man up situations to stay close in the game.   Jake Meyerholt's 'man down' goal on a sweet pass from Reese Pieroni helped keep the distance.  As the first quarter ended, after solid shots in the net by Zach Furr and Austin Darnell, the Bears led 5-2.  

During this game, the Bears made life miserable for the Raider goalie, especially during defensive clear situations.  While the Bears converted 90% of their clears based on strong decision making by goalie, Cole Winsness, collectively our players imposed their will and allowed only a 33% effective clear percentage by the Raiders.  That effort combined with solid ground ball play all game led to a dominating time of possession advantage for Cambridge with the Bears holding possession over two-thirds of the game.  On a night where he struck for four goals, Austin Darnell's 2^nd quarter goal along with a sweet fast break goal by Sophomore, Bryson Hawkins, took the halftime score up to 7-3.    

It was during the 3^rd quarter where the Bears delivered too much power for their opponents outscoring the Raiders 6-0 in the 3^rd.   Jake Meyerholt's speed and shot making ability led to two 3^rd quarter goals joining fellow Seniors Darnell and Zach Furr to push the lead to 12-3.  Sophomore Midfielder, Reese Pieroni, extended the margin to 10 points on his effective shot into the Cambridge net as the quarter wound down. 

As the Raiders attempted any type of comeback, the Bears defense shut the door and kept the margin in double digits.  Senior Attacker Tyler Davis's two late goals helped seal the final outcome of 15-5 and helped erase the memory of the Bear's prior game loss. 

Having won their seventh out of eight games,  the Bears stand 10-6 on the season and move on to their next opponent--West Forsyth--where the winner will have the inside track to the #2 seed in the area.
