Cambridge Varsity Boys Lacrosse Loses to #1 Ranked Lambert, Saturday April 14th

In a key home matchup against perennial state power, Lambert, on Saturday, April 14th, the Bears ended up on the short end as the Longhorns showed why they are ranked #1 this season.  While matched on the field athletically, the Longhorns poise and effective team play led to a strong victory over the Cambridge boys varsity team, 15-1.

Falling behind 5-0 in the first quarter, the Bears had difficulty handling the efficient offensive display by the visitors and the aggressive defensive pressure along with good execution by the Longhorns on their clears led to few shots on goal by the home team.   Among the highlights in the game, the Bears were effective at defensive clears on goalie stops---achieving a solid 85% clear percentage.

While the Longhorns collected more ground balls for the game, the Bears competed well in this key category.  Seniors Nick Ganem and Zach Furr, along with Sophomore Kayden Warner, picked up multiple ground balls for the game showing good speed and competitiveness.  Senior Attack, Jake Meyerholt, posted the lone goal for the game by Cambridge.

With the win, Lambert secured the #1 seed in the region for playoffs.  Despite this loss, the Bears have two more area games and control their destiny to land the #2 seed in area play behind Lambert as playoffs loom in May.

The team returns to the field against North Forsyth on Tuesday, April 17th.

Go Bears!
