Cambridge Boy's Lacrosse Win over Starr's Mill in State Quarterfinals 10-4

Cambridge Boy's Lacrosse Win over Starr's Mill in State Quarterfinals 10-4

In the GHSA State quarterfinal matchup Friday, May 8th, Starr's Mill came out strong and physical, ready to take on our Bears... but at the end of the game the Bears were the stronger team and move on to the Semi-Finals, defeating the Panthers 10-4!!

The Bears struggled a bit in the beginning with passes, losing critical possessions. Although Starr's Mill was able to win the face-off battle in the first quarter, a strong defensive midfield presence by Nick Herrick, Jake Maxam and Eric Cizek forced several turnovers, putting the ball in the Bears' possession and striking first with a rip by Jameson Wilkins! The score was 4-2 Bears at halftime.

The Bears pulled it together and came out strong to start the second half, frustrating the Starr's Mill goalie, who had several great saves throughout the game.  The Bears were relentless and by the end of the 3rd the score was 7-4!

Bears' Goalie Aaron Contreras stayed strong and steady with amazing saves throughout the game, not allowing Starr's Mill to execute multiple scoring opportunities. Bears spent many minutes man-down with a player in the penalty box, however the defense, led by Balon Compton, Chase Darnell, Tate Prezzano and Raleigh Cassada kept Starr's Mill at bay, forcing turnovers and take-aways.  This helped the Bears' defense to limit Starr's Mill shooting opportunities, allowing only one score when they were man-up!

Several Bears contributed goals, including Alex Sichynsky, Will Britain, Jake Leddy, Brendan Fahey, and Wilkins, with assists by Fahey and Leddy.

BEARS WIN!!
