Bears Varsity Boys Lacrosse Defeat Forsyth Central, Lose to Marist

Cambridge Boy's Varsity lacrosse is still at the top of Area 03 with a big win against Area opponent Forsyth Central, Wednesday, April 15th, but a close loss against Marist, Tuesday, April 21st.

Forsyth Central was not able to stop the offensive attack of the Bears from the start and the Bears were up 12-1 at halftime.

Several Bears were able to see a lot of playing time during this game which ended with a final score of 18-1.  Goals were spread out among many players, including Zac Lehman, Brendan Fahey, Griffin Chambers, Miles Copeland, Tyler Werth, Jake Leddy, Jack Sadighian, Dylan Gabriel, Max Fleming, Alex Sichynsky, Carson Smith and Jameson Wilkins.

The Bears were able to win majority of faceoffs by Austin Walling, Max Fleming and Eric Cizek.

The Bears started out slowly against Marist, who came ready to play.

The Bears had a difficult task scoring against their goalie, a 6'5" 250+ lb. D-I UGA Football recruit, who was able to stop most shots he faced.  At the half, Bears were down 3-1, having difficulty executing any offense or preventing Marist from taking shots on Aaron Contreras in goal.

Marist was able to capitalize on turnovers committed by the Bears, mostly on missed shot opportunities.  Going into the 4th qtr the Bears found a groove and played much stronger offense and defense, closing the gap with Marist 4-5.  With very little time on the clock in the 4th, the Bears Leddy scored the tying goal, however the official thought he was in the crease and called no-goal.

The game ended 5-4 in favor of Marist.

Bears goals were scored by Fahey (3) and Fleming.  Sadighian had 2 assists and Leddy had 1.  Ben Clark had a great second half in goal, saving 7 of 9 shots, and Walling again had clutch face off wins in the 4th quarter allowing Bears to be in scoring position.

Go Bears!
