Boys Varsity Lacrosse Win Over West Forsyth 13-9, Sat. March 28th

Cambridge Varsity Lacrosse makes it nine in-a-row with win over always tough 6-A West Forsyth!

On a beautiful day in Bear Country, the Cambridge Men's Lacrosse team took down West Forsyth 13-9.

This matchup began with each team answering the other's scores in a very physical, fast-paced game.  The Bears started a bit flat-footed with a few dropped passes, turnovers and wayward shots of which WF took full-advantage.  The Bears Defense led by Balon Compton, Chase Darnell, Tate Prezzano and goalie Aaron Contreras worked hard to keep WF from scoring by making stops and causing turnovers. That was assisted by a team effort of ground ball grabbing midfielders led by Will Britain and Nick Herrick.  By the end of the first quarter the score was 4-3 Cambridge and by half, the Bears had a slight edge with a score of 6-4.

In the second half, the game became even more physical, but the Bears were able answer by creating scoring opportunities while the Defense prevented WF from doing the same.  By the end of the 3rd the score was 10-5.

Bears got a bit sloppy only to watch WF bring the score to within 2 in the 4th quarter.  The Bears scrappy attack line answered, finishing strong with two more goals and the win, 13-9!

Scores were led by the crazy shooting of Jake Leddy with 6 goals, Brendan Fahey and Will Britain with 2 each, and additional goals by Alex Sichynsky, Jameson Wilkins and Tyler Werth.  Goals were assisted by Herrick, Nic Martini, Prezzano and Darnell. Austin Walling and Eric Cizek won critical face-offs in the second half allowing Cambridge to set up the offense.  WF incurred penalties in 2nd half putting Cambridge in man-up situations that gave us scoring opportunities.

Very exciting and physical game from start to finish and another great win for Cambridge!
