Varsity Men's Lacrosse Win Back-to-Back Games over Forsyth Central and Wesleyan

 

Bears Crush Forsyth Central 17-2 Friday, March 28th

The Bears dominated the Bulldogs at home under the lights on Friday night with a convincing 17-2 victory.

Both teams scored early – Cambridge's Tyler Werth put the ball in the back of the net just 5 seconds into the game, assisted by JD White.  The Bulldogs answered with a goal of their own a minute and a half later.  The game belonged to Cambridge from that point on - the Bears scored the next 8 goals unanswered.

Goalie Aaron Contreras held the Bulldogs to just one more goal.  Leading scorers for Cambridge were Tyler Werth with 4 goals and 1 assist, and Brendan Fahey and Michael Pellegrino, each with 2 goals and 1 assist.

The defense stood strong against Central, with all players getting quality playing time.  Leading defensemen were Tate Prezzano, particularly effective on clears, and Balon Compton, Raleigh Cassada and Britt Spurka.

 

Bears Score a Win over a Tough Wesleyan Team 12-7 Saturday, March 29th

The Varsity team beat a top ranked opponent in the Wesleyan Wolves Saturday afternoon at home in the rain.  Wesleyan came into the game with a record of 7-1 and ranked.

Cambridge scored first and early, with Nick Herrick scoring off the face just 15 seconds into the game.

The Bears easily outscored the Wolves 10-3 through the first 3 quarters.  Leading scorers for Cambridge were JD White, with 3 goals and 1 assist, and Jake Leddy and Tyler Werth, each with 2 goals and 1 assist.  In typical Cambridge style, scoring was spread over many players - in this game, 7 different Bears put the ball in the back of the net.

Leading the defense were long sticks Tate Prezzano and Raleigh Cassada. Cassada's clear in the second quarter set up the goal by Leddy.  Goalie Aaron Contreras delivered another strong performance in the cage.
