Men's Varsity Lacrosse Team Defeats Cherokee, North Springs

Cambridge loses close game to Woodstock Wolverines 12-9 at Woodstock Tuesday 3/11/2014

After a slow start in the first quarter, the Bears found themselves down 5-2 at the end of the first quarter.  The Bears tightened their game in the remaining three quarters, and were able to bring the score to within 1 goal at the end of the 3rd quarter - with the Wolverines up 9-8. 

The score got the Bears fired up and they came out shooting, with Jamie Wilkins scoring off an assist from Tyler Werth.  Werth led the scoring followed by Wilkins. 

Key defenders for Cambridge included Britt Spurka and Tate Prezzano.  Goalie Aaron Contreras has his best game of the season with aggressive play in the crease.

 


Cambridge Varsity bests Cherokee High School 18-2 Thursday 3/13/2014 at CHS Stadium

The Bears dominated the Cherokee Warriors Thursday night in every category of the game, easily winning 18-2.  

Scoring for Cambridge fell across 8 different players, led by Tyler Werth with 4 goals and Sam Burrafato and Jake Leddy who each had 3.  JD White contributed 3 assists. Will Britain was the Bears leading face off man, coming up with 9 to put Cambridge on the offensive. 

The Bears rotated Varsity and JV players on defense and in the goal, with all 4 Cambridge goalies getting some time in the cage.

 



Varsity improves record to 6-2 with win over North Springs..wins 13-3 on Friday 3/14/2014 at CHS Stadium

After 3 quick goals by the Spartans in the first 3 minutes of the game, the Bears came out fighting with a one-two punch -- the defense shutting down the Spartans offense and the Bears offense scoring the next 13 unanswered goals to win the game 13-3. 

As typical of the Bears, scoring was spread out among 7 different players.  Jaime Wilkins and Tyler Werth each had a hat trick, followed closely by Jake Leddy and JD White with 2 shots connecting. 

Wilkins and Will Britain dominated face offs -- each with 5.  Aaron Contreras started in the goal and had 5 saves.
