Cambridge JV Boys Lacrosse Falls to Marist 6-4

The Cambridge Bears men's JV lacrosse team hosted the Eagles from Marist High School Monday night under a sky laced with snow flurries.  The game was a close one – and one the Bears could have taken – but they fell just short, losing to a seasoned Marist team 6-4.

As in the varsity game, Cambridge's JV's strength was its defense.  The Twin Towers of Chase Darnell and Jack Lundstrom led this defense, aided by Trey Wolfe and goalie Branch Morley, shutting down the Eagle's offense and getting the ball to the Bear side of the field.  The Eagles managed to get just 4 shots past Morley and the Towers in the first quarter and one in the second.  Late in the first for the Bears, attackman Trent Wilson fed Collin Nicholls, who scored with a bounce shot at the top of the crease.

The Bear defense set up their next goal with a take away to start the 3rd quarter, getting the ball to Chris Anderson who then fed Wilson from top left.  Wilson scored again from 10 yards out late in the 3rd, assisted by Michael Pellegrino.  Cambridge gave up an unsettled goal to end the quarter.

Cambridge started the 4th with a man up opportunity but was unable to connect.  With 6 minutes left in the game, Cambridge pulled within 2 with the quick stick goal from Miles Copeland off the assist from Pellegrino at x.  The rest of the game was a nail biter – with both teams having chances to score without success.  It was a hard fought loss for Cambridge.
