Bears JV Lacrosse Lose to Milton

Bears JV Lacrosse Lose to Milton

The JV Cambridge men's lacrosse team hosted the Milton Eagles on Tuesday night, pitting former teammates against one another in the first of many games between these crosstown rivals.

The Eagles had the advantage in experience and a program steeped with success.  The Cambridge men delivered a solid performance on the field against the defending state champions, but once again the Bears struggled with face offs and clears, putting the CHS defense in the hot seat for most of the game.  The Bears defense pushed back hard, led by long sticks Chase Darnell and Peter KnappJack Lundstrom was a quiet but solid man in the middle, fending off Milton's offensive shooting fest.   First time starter in the cage Branch Morley had a number of quality saves against a seasoned and strong Milton offense, limiting the Eagles to 4 in the first quarter and 6 in the second.

The Bears offense saw more of the ball in the second half.  But the Milton goalie was a wall in the cage, saving some Cambridge shots other goalies would have missed.  A screen by Miles Copeland put Trent Wilson in prime position to feed Chris Anderson in front of the cage midway in the third quarter was one such Milton save, as was the clear by Chase Darnell to Anderson to Micah Pavcik.   Cambridge had a couple of man up opportunities in the 3rd but were unable to convert.  At the buzzer, Milton had 16 goals to Cambridge's 0.

Cambridge has a double header on March 19 at CHS with both squads seeing action.  Varsity leads off against Creekview while the JV team plays Duluth High School.
