Cambridge Varsity Men's Lacrosse Victorious

The Cambridge varsity men's lacrosse came from behind in the 3rd quarter to beat the River Ridge Knights Friday night April 19th at home by a score of 9-7.

The game was a tight one, and both offenses were shooting well.  River Ridge scored first, and Lauren DeLaPerriere answered with his own goal on a dodge from behind the cage, popping the ball in the net over the goalie's shoulder.  Cambridge's Jameson Wilkins scored on an outside shot, and DeLaPerriere connected again to give the Bears a 3-2 lead.  River Ridge and Cambridge traded goals to bring the teams all even at the half.  Scoring for CHS was Kevin Schukle on an iso shot on the run from up top.

The Knights offense turned it on in the second half, scoring twice in the first 3 minutes.  Brendan Fahey picked up a key ground ball inside and put the ball in the net, bringing the Bears to within one.  Late in the 3rd quarter, Jake Leddy was on fire,  scoring 3 quick goals, earning a hat trick and giving the Bears the lead.  Late in the 4th, Jamie Wilkins wove through the River Ridge defense to put the Bears up 9-6.  The Knights kept fighting, though, and connected on a man down penalty with just over a minute to play.

Ryan Callahan won the key face off, and Cambridge did a great job holding onto the ball to run the clock out and win the game, 9-7.

Cambridge's defense, led by Joshua Kania, Raleigh Cassada and Britt Spurka, put in another strong performance, as did goalies Croix Martini and Aaron Contreras.
