For the second time this season, the Bears proved adept at Ryder Cup play. Although Cambridge and the five other schools that comprised the West squad came up four points short of their East counterparts (14-10), the Bears did more than their share by taking three of a possible four points.
Sophomore Jake Peacock ran his match-play record this season to 2-0 with a 2 and 1 win over his Johns Creek opponent.
Senior Blake Farbman also emerged victorious in singles competition. After halving his match, Farbman defeated South Forsyth's No.1 in a pitch off.
Seniors Ryan Demit and Hogan Losch teamed in the always entertaining and challenging alternate-shot play to defeat their Milton opponents. This match also required more than 18 holes. Demit and Losch rallied by winning the last two holes to force the tiebreaker. Demit's pitch onto the 9th green at the conclusion of regulation play was the best of the bunch, giving Cambridge its third point of the day.
Senior Drew Henriksen and junior Coleman Leathers nearly made it a Cambridge sweep. However, they dropped a tight best-ball match to Marist on the final hole of play.
Cambridge 160, Creekview 161 - Wednesday, March 27th
While the recently aerated greens at White Columns were not exactly receptive, the Bear's made just enough shots and, more importantly putts, to edge the visitors from Creekview, 160 to 161.
Junior Coleman Leathers paced Cambridge with an even-par round of 36 which included birdies on No.5 and No.8. Sophomore Jake Peacock followed close behind with a 38.
Also scoring for the Bears were sophomore Griffin Sasdi and junior Owen Furr. Sasdi shot 42 and Furr contributed a 44.
