Boys Golf Team Wins Sectional, Qualify for State Championship

The Cambridge Boys Golf Team needed to play an extra tournament if they were going to qualify for the State Championship.

The Bears traveled to the West Lake Country Club in Augusta on Monday May 6th for a Sectional qualifier and Coach Vajda rallied the team to their best tournament of the year.

The Boys won the nine team Sectional Tournament and qualified to go to the State Tournament May 20th in Jekyll Island, GA.

Sophomore Ryan Stachler led the Bears with a 3 under (69). Juniors Chris Meyer (74) and Evan Goldfuss (78) and Freshman Austin Redick (81), posted the Bears season low team score (302) heading into States.

Other Bears playing in the Sectional were Junior Thomas Pettigrew (83) and Justin Beard (87).

Congratulations to the coaches and players; In its inaugural golf season both the Cambridge Girls (Region Champs) and Boys Golf Teams will represent Cambridge in the State Championship.
