Cambridge Hoops Back in Action Friday Night

Be sure to come support your Cambridge Bears Friday night Jan. 10th beginning at 4:30 p.m. in the Cambridge Gym.

At HOME this evening, the junior varsity girls tip off at 4:30 p.m., followed by the varsity girls at 6:00 p.m. and the varsity boys at 7:30 p.m.

The junior varsity boys play at 4:30 while the freshman boys play at 6:00 p.m., but they will be AWAY at Riverwood tonight.

This past Wednesday Jan. 8th, Cambridge had some tough games against North Springs.  The junior varsity girls lost a close one 34-33.  The varsity girls fought hard as well and had the lead the entire game, although the Spartans pulled within 2 points half way through the 3rd quarter, making the score 23-21.  The girls went on to a solid victory by a score of 56-37, making this the first region win for the team.

Coach Lesley Broadwell:" We were happy with the outcome but we cannot be satisfied and must keep improving so that we can give ourselves more opportunities for region victories in January and February.  We hope to be playing our best basketball as the region tournament approaches in February."

The varsity boys lost their battle with North Springs, 65-44.  Coach Chip Flemmer: "The team did a really good job defensively for the first three quarters, however, we struggled to put the ball in the basket throughout the game.  We had an unusually large number of turnovers and never could get over the hump to control the game."  Coach Flemmer is hoping for a good turnout and a good game tonight against Riverwood.
