After qualifying in 4th place at the State Preliminary meet on Thursday, April 22nd and earning a spot at State Finals, the Gym Bears pulled out a 3rd place finish on Saturday, April 24th at States.
Starting out on beam, freshman Anna Draper scored a 9.633, finishing in 4th place on beam in the state.
Moving to floor, junior Madelyn Mild led the team with a 9.033, followed by Anjai with an 8.816.
The team crushed vault with all 4 of the gymnasts having big scores. Sophomore Ella Thurman had an amazing vault scoring 9.8. Freshman Victoria Lancaster had a 9.533, junior Lia McSweeney had a 9.466.
Finishing on bars, Lia and Anna had great routines, both scoring 9.533.
The Gym Bears finished in 3rd with a season high 111.13 team score. They were less than .6 points off of second place finishers, Buford High School, with a 111.715.
This is the second time the Gym Bears have made it to State Finals. They also competed in 2019 and finished in 3rd place.
