Lady Gym Bears Take 3rd Place at GHSA State Meet, Friday, May 3rd

CHS Varsity Gymnastics Team took 3rd at the GHSA State Meet on Friday, May 3rd!  The Gym Bears came together as a team and performed their best under some very high pressure and high standards.

The girls began the night on Vault with Taylor Rech scoring a 9.8, Charlie Behner came in with another high score with a 9.6 and Lia McSweeney scored a solid 8.95.  Senior Haley Copeland competed in her last vault of her high school career at State with a solid 8.2. 
 
The team then moved onto Bars where Behner began the run by scoring a 9.225, McSweeney brought in an 8.8 and senior Jenna Hart competing in her last high school meet, rounded the event out with a score of 8.55. 
 
The third event was Beam, the girls bringing in some good scores from Rech with a 9.35, Hart with an 8.45, Behner with an 8.25, and Madelyn Mild also scoring on the event with an 8.050.  The last and final event of the evening was Floor, with beautiful and solid routines by all 4 gymnasts.  Rech brought in the high score with a 9.55, Behner with a 9.1, Hart with an 8.45 and Mild with an 8.3.  The overall Team score was a 107.975!
 
A special shoutout to Taylor Rech and Charlie Behner for both taking Individual State Championships! Rech took 1st and Behner took 4th on Vault.
 
The Gym Bears season ended on a high note with the entire team competing in a total of 8 meets this season and scoring their overall highest team score to date, at prelims with a 109.925.  The team, coached by Coach Dysert, has a solid ground to build upon and sights of a State Championship in their future!
