State prelims took place on Saturday, 4/27 at Buford Arena with 8 high schools participating along with some very stiff competition.  The CHS Gym Bears began the afternoon on Vault, with Taylor Rech achieving one of the top scores of the day with a 9.7!  Charlie Behner came in with a very close second at a 9.575 and Lia McSweeney rounded the event out with a solid 9.  The girls then moved onto the Bars where Behner took the lead with a 9.75, Rech with a 9.2, and McSweeney with an 8.9.  The team then took to the beam with Rech leading the way with a 9.3 and senior Jenna Hart contributing and an 8.9 and Behner with an 8.45.  The competition came down to the team's floor routines with both Rech and Behner scoring 9.2's and McSweeney with an 8.75.

The team's season is not over yet with the Gym Bears moving onto to the State meet for the second time in CHS history.  The team which consists of two seniors, three sophomores, and seven freshmen also had 4 girls qualify as individuals for State prelims this season, among those, were Hart, Madelyn Mild, Emilijia Ragaine, and Rech.  And in true CHS Gymnastics fashion, the girls came together as a team and will all move onto the State Championship!
