GymBears Take 2nd Place at Etowah Invitational, Friday, March 2nd

GymBears Take 2nd Place at Etowah Invitational, Friday, March 2nd
The Varsity Gymnastics team traveled to Etowah High School on Friday, March 2nd, competing against five area teams in the Invitational, narrowly losing to host Etowah by a little over a point.  Again, the Balance Beam proved to be the team's nemesis, having to count multiple falls to the team score total.  Unfortunately, this made the difference between first and second place on the team podium.

Overall, Cambridge was led by freshman Kiplin Polk who placed 2nd All Around.  The GymBears started on Floor, and Junior Jenna Hart and freshman Annalise Stallworth gave strong performances with both gymnasts ending in a 3 way tie for 3rd place with 9.2's.  The Vault was next, and all the GymBears threw solid vaults with many gymnasts posting personal bests.  Erin Huddle led the team, tying for 6th place with a score of 8.8, followed closely by Hart and Polk.  Junior Haley Copeland, with two stuck landings, and Sophomore Avery Markow posted personal bests.

The Uneven Bars proved once again to be a strong event for Cambridge, with Polk leading the team with a second place score of 9.0.  Hart placed 4th overall, followed closely by Huddle placing 5th with scores of 8.85 and 8.8, respectively.

The GymBears struggled on Beam again, and is working hard to post solid routines in their next meet.  Polk lead the team with a tie for 1st place with a 9.0.  Other strong performances came from Freshman Gracie Counsell on both Beam and Bars.

Come out and support Cambridge as they travel to Westminster on Wednesday, March 7th at 5 pm.  Go GymBears!
