Cambridge Varsity Gymnastics Opens Season with Win

The Cambridge Varsity Gym Bears opened their season with their first win over teams from Milton, Roswell and Chattahoochee on February 16th at Infinity Gymnastics.

The Gym Bears posted a team high score of 104.45, a score that is sure to improve as routines tighten up as the season continues.  It was the team's best performance in program history, and was a result of two factors: the Bears added new gymnasts to the team, and, importantly, all new and returning gymnasts upped their level of difficulty on every event and in every performance.

Cambridge started the meet on the Bars, posting stellar scores by Jenna Hart, Erin Huddle and Kiplin Polk of 9.2, 9.3 and 9.5, respectively, for a team score of 28 out of 30.

Cambridge continued to lead throughout the meet, competing next on Beam. Balance Beam, always a challenging event, proved a little shaky for the Bears - still - Cambridge was able to stick 3 of 4 routines.

The Bears followed Beam with strong routines on both Floor and Vault, with standout performances by Hart and Annalise Stallworth on Floor and Huddle and Polk on Vault.

Cambridge competes next on Saturday, February 24th at 2:00 pm at Roswell Recreation Gym.

Go Bears!
