Bears Varsity Football Defeats North Springs 35-19 Friday, Oct. 16th

Bear fans, on Friday night 10/16/15, our Bears took on the North Springs Spartans in an away game looking to keep pace with Riverwood as the only unbeatens in league play.  The Bears came out on top with a 35-19 win to improve their record to 6-1 overall on the season and an impressive 4-0 in league play.  North Springs dropped to 1-6 overall and 0-4 in league play.

As has been the case for most of season, the Bears again had a strong, consistent running game amassing 278 total rushing yards led by 154 yards by junior Kaelin Byrd (1 TD) and 102 yards by senior JD White (2 TDs).  Rising sophomore receiver Christian Lail connected with junior quarterback Cameron Moore on a 40+ yard touchdown strike, which was the first of Christian's varsity career.  All scores were assisted by excellent up front blocking by the Bears offensive line.  Junior Will Britain also had a touchdown on a fumble recovery.

Defensively, it was much of the same for the Bears with several players contributing to 40 total tackles, 7 for losses.  Solo tackling and assisted tackling has proven to be a strong suit of the year's Bear team.  Also, the Bears have a lot to look forward to with impressive freshmen Ridge Polk, as he showed flashes of his talent with a couple of impressive efforts on punt returns.

With this win, the Bears are now undefeated in league standings and hold first place as next week's opponent, the Riverwood Raiders, were defeated by the Kell Longhorns 31-3 on the same night and have suffered their first league loss.

Please come out to support our Bears as we travel to Riverwood to take on the Raiders in a big game Friday night, 10/23/15 at Riverwood Stadium at 7:30 pm.

Go Bears!
