Bear fans, on Friday 10/9/15, our Bears took on the Sprayberry Yellow Jackets at Bear Stadium in league play. The Bears battled to a 42-17 victory.
With the win, the Bears improved to a 5-1 overall record and 3-0 in league play. The Yellow Jackets dropped to 4-3 overall and 2-2 in the league. It was a sweet victory for the Bears as they avenged last year's loss to the Yellow Jackets in Marietta.
The Bears got off to a slow start as the Yellow Jackets jumped in front on the 3rd play of the game with an interception return for a TD. However, the ever improving Cambridge offensive line and running game continues to shine as senior JD White exploded again for 300 all-purpose yards that included 4 touchdowns (2 rushing, 1 receiving and 1 on a punt return).
Junior Kaelin Byrd returned to action after missing last week's game due to injury and contributed 2 touchdown runs as well. The remaining scoring was handled by sophomore kicker Victor Valentine who was perfect on all 6 PAT attempts.
Defensively, the Bears had a strong tacking night led by senior Mason Smith and junior Will Britain with 9 and 8 total tackles respectively. The defense also combined for 7 total sacks on the night to frustrate the visitors.
Next up for the Bears will be an away game on Friday 10/16/15 against the North Springs Spartans, who enter the league matchup with a 1-5 overall record.
Game start time is 7:30 PM. Please come out for the road game at North Springs and support our Bears.
Go Bears!
