Cambridge Varsity Football Plays for State Playoff Berth Friday, Nov. 7th

On Friday November 7, the Region 7B AAAAA passing yards stats leader, QB Brian Moore (2025 yards) and receiving stats leaders, Hunter Smith (755 yards) and John Hurst (682 yards) will lead the Varsity Cambridge Bears team against the 7A AAAAA Creekview Grizzlies at Bears stadium.

The winner of the game will advance to the state playoffs.  The game comes on the heels of Cambridge's first winning season in the program's brief history and represents its biggest game yet.

On the defensive side of the ball, the Bears look for big games from sack leader, Josh Kania (8) and tackles leader, Trey Wolfe (87).

The 7-2 Bears head into this game coming off of last week's crucial 35-21 victory over the Forsyth Central Bulldogs.  The 5-4 Grizzlies are coming off a 24-17 tune-up win over the River Ridge Knights.   The Grizzlies are led by quarterback Kyle Wilkie, who scored the winning touchdown with a 1-yard keeper with 9 seconds remaining in the game. Wilkie finished the game with 62 yards on seven carries, and 141 yards through the air.

Creekview beat Cambridge 27-24 last season, winning on Ben McClelland's field goal in the closing seconds.

Come out and cheer for your Cambridge Bears!  Arrive early and expect a hard fought game on Friday night with emotions likely to spill over.

Game time is 7:30 p.m.

Go Bears!
