Cambridge Football Wraps up 2013 Season with Year-End Banquet

Cambridge Football Wraps up 2013 Season with Year-End Banquet

Cambridge Football 2013-14 wrapped up the year with a banquet on Thursday Dec. 5th.

The cafeteria was decorated festively to match the mood of a successful season.  Coaches recognized the players from Freshman, JV and Varsity teams. Heartfelt tributes were given to the departing seniors in appreciation of their efforts and contributions.  Although the coaches concentrate on 'team', it was hard not to recognize the individual outstanding accomplishments of Zeke Gormley who had 5 interceptions this season and Josh Kania who had 11 sacks and ranked 3rd in State for 5A.

The following players are voted on by their peers for outstanding recognition.

FRESHMAN TEAM

FRESHMAN MVP - Kaelyn Byrd

JV TEAM

Special Teams - Dashun Soto
Defense - Michael Pellegrino
Offense - Boltin Teeter
JV MVP - Cameron Moore

VARSITY TEAM

Varsity Special Teams Award went to Hunter Smith who contributed with his solid punting but his excellent play as a wide receiver was also highlighted by the coaches.  Outstanding Defense was a tie and plaques were given to both Charles Mills and Josh Kania, who will both be returning to lead the defense next year.   Brian Moore who finished with impressive stats in passing yardage, rushing yardage and TDs, finishing 8th in the state, earned the Offensive Player Award and the MVP Award.   Brian will be returning next year as a senior.  Coaches are excited about building the team for next year.
