Cambridge Bears Football MIDNIGHT GROWL

The official football season kick-off for the Cambridge Bears started with a bang. Unfortunately, if was a thunderstorm bang. The loyal and supportive Bears community and cheerleaders who turned out at midnight for the much anticipated event ended up dwindling away as it became apparent the weather was going to be a spoiler. Rain and lightning, however, did not dim the opportunity for the Bears players to build camaraderie and team spirit during the second-ever Midnight Growl.
The night started with an inspiring movie, Undefeated, about an underdog football team in Memphis that overcame a losing history, then continued with pizza, open-circle voluntary speaking, and senior speeches. Finally around 2:30 a.m., the weather cleared up so the players, in full gear, and with great enthusiasm, entered the field under the lights and ran through plays to ready themselves as they countdown to the first game of the season.
With three times more seniors than last year, a roster of sophomores and juniors with varsity experience and a full, enthusiastic coaching staff, there is an excitement building that this will be a successful season as the Bears enter their second year of Cambridge football.
So it begins.......Season Two of Cambridge Bears Football. We hope to see you at the games -cheering on this group of hardworking student athletes as they strive to do their best. All in - All the Time!
The first game is Friday, August 30, at Riverwood at 7:30 p.m.
