JV Football Falls to North Atlanta in Season Opener

JV Football Falls to North Atlanta in Season Opener

The First ever Cambridge Junior Varsity football game was an away game at North Atlanta High School on September 8th. With an outstanding amount of Bear fans in the stands, the rookie JV team gave fans something to cheer about by putting 2 defensive touchdowns on the scoreboard. Sophomore free safety, Garrett Walton, took the opportunity to strip the ball from an offensive player and run it back 80 yards for a touchdown.

Trey Wolfe scored the other touchdown followed by a successful 2 point conversion. Coaches put in the 3 different quarterbacks, Brian Moore, Jordan Sloter, and Jair Hawkins-Anderson, as each player brought a different strength to the position.

Despite too many turnovers, Cambridge stayed in the game coming within 6 points (20-14) in the 3rd quarter. A final score of 28-14 gives the young JV team reason to look forward to the next game with optimism. This team of mostly freshmen and sophomores will gain valuable experience as they mature into their varsity roles.

The next JV football game is September 20th at Forsyth Central at 5:30 p.m.
