Cambridge Varsity Baseball Takes Down Milton 7-0, Friday, February 28th
Cambridge and Milton hooked up on a chilly Friday evening at Cambridge field for the final non-region game before the start of region play on Tuesday, March 3rd.  The host Bears capitalized on a slew of Milton errors and walks to win going away in their first home game of the season.

Tommy Fester, coming off of a dominating performance last weekend, took the hill for Cambridge looking for his second win of the season.  He picked right up where he left off, setting Milton down in order in the first.  The Cambridge offense spotted him a couple of runs in the bottom of the inning.

Jared Spears drew a one-out walk and then scored on a double to right center by Cody Rech.  Rech was on fire all week and continued in his first at bat of the evening.  A second run scored off of an error on a ball hit by Justin Hozman to make the score 2-0 after the initial inning.

Milton threatened in the second courtesy of an error, a single and a hit by pitch, all with two outs.  But Fester stopped the threat with a K to end the inning with the bases full.  In the bottom of the inning, Ryan Todd drove in Drew Hill with a single to push the score to 3-0.  Fester cruised through the third and fourth, while Cambridge opened up the game in the bottom of the fourth.

Four straight two-out walks led to another run.  Matt Faby then hit a ball to second that was mis-played, leading to two more runs and a 6-0 lead for the home team.  Fester threw another 1-2-3 inning to close out his night before an Alex Moelter sac fly drove in the game's final run in the bottom of the fifth.

Patrick Warren pitched a scoreless sixth inning, striking out three.  Zach Harris pitched the seventh, allowing a hit but no runs to close out the 7-0 Cambridge victory.

Fester got the win, going five innings allowing no runs on one hit with seven strikeouts and no walks.  Todd, Rech and Faby had the Cambridge hits with Rech's double the only extra base hit of the game.

Cambridge kicks off region play with a home game against Centennial on Tuesday, March 3rd.  Game time is 5:55 PM.

Go Bears!
