Up a game in region standings heading into the last two games prior to spring break, Cambridge sent senior righty Blake Renner to the mound to protect its region lead.  And Renner did that and more with a dazzling complete game effort, striking out 13 Centennial batters without allowing a walk.

Renner was in control throughout, finishing the complete game in an economical 89 pitches.  He kicked off his virtuoso performance with a 1-2-3 first inning, while his offense gave him all the support he would ultimately need in the bottom of the inning.  Ross Friedrick got things started with a one-out double to left center.  Courtesy runner Grayson Data remained at second on Cody Rech's infield single before both runners advanced via a wild pitch.  The catcher's throw sailed into left, allowing Dato to score the first run of the game.

Both teams went in order in the second.  Cambridge added another run in the third when Rech singled in Ryan Todd who had previously singled to center.  Mitch Fleming led off the fourth with a home run to left to push the lead to 3-0 in favor of the home team.

The Cambridge offense continued in the fifth.  Johnny Eneberg led off with a single and Todd got on by error.  Friedrick then drove in Eneberg via a sacrifice fly before Todd scored on a wild pitch to make the score 5-0.  Jared Spears contributed in the sixth by tripling down the left field line, before scoring the game's final run via another wild pitch for a 6-0 Cambridge victory.

Rech led the balanced Cambridge offensive attack with two hits.  Fleming (HR), Spears (3B), and Friedrick (2B) all had extra base hits.  Renner, however, was the star of the show, allowing no runs on two hits with those thirteen strikeouts.

The Bears play one last region game before spring break at Johns Creek on Thursday, March 28th.  Game time is 5:55 PM.
