Cambridge Baseball Moves to 3-0 in Region with 2-1 Win over Hooch, Monday, March 11th
After doing some clever manipulation with the field tarp, Cambridge was able to play its third region game of the season, hosting Chattahoochee on a soggy field, Monday, March 11th.  The Bears sent righty Evan Pollifrone to the mound looking for his third win of the season.

Pollifrone threw a scoreless first and Cambridge wasted a Cody Rech single in the bottom of the inning.  Chattahoochee got two on in the second, but Pollifrone coaxed a ground out to end the threat.  Cambridge went quietly in the bottom of the inning, while the visitors pushed across the game's initial run in the third courtesy of a single and double.

Cambridge managed to tie the game in the fifth.  Grayson Dato led off and got on via a dropped third strike before singles by Nicholas Armstrong and Johnny Eneberg loaded the bases.  Dato then scored via wild pitch to tie the game at 1-1 as Cambridge could push nothing more across.

Michael Polk entered the game for Pollifrone in the sixth and promptly struck out his first batter to end a Hooch threat.  Rech led off the bottom of the sixth with a double to right and was then moved to third on a sac bunt by Mitch Fleming.  Rech then scored via a balk by the Chattahoochee pitcher for a 2-1 lead.

Polk retired the visitors in order in the seventh and Cambridge secured its third region victory in as many tries.

Cody Rech continued his hot hitting to lead the Cambridge offense.  He had two hits including a double and a run scored.  Grayson Dato, Nicholas Armstrong and Johnny Eneberg had the other hits.  Pollifrone took a no decision, but pitched well.  He went 5 2/3 innings and allowed a run on five hits with two strikeouts.  Polk retired all four batters he faced for his second win of the season.

The Bears continue region play on Wednesday, March 13th at Alpharetta.  Game time is 5:55 PM.

Go Bears!
