Bears Baseball Loses Non-Region Game to Roswell, Tuesday, March 5th

Bears Baseball Loses Non-Region Game to Roswell, Tuesday, March 5th
Cambridge traveled to Roswell HS Tuesday night, March 5th for its final non-region game before the start of region play.  The game was played in chilly, windy conditions, and those conditions seemed to affect the visitors more than the hosts as Roswell took the game 9-4.

Evan Pollifrone got the start for Cambridge and Roswell struck early, pushing across five runs in the first with the assistance of a crucial Cambridge error.  The Bears righty settled down in the second to post a scoreless inning.  Meanwhile, the Bears offense was able to get one back in the second without benefit of a hit.  Ross Friedrick and Jared Spears walked to open the frame and pinch-runner Grayson Dato would later score on a dropped third strike to make the score 5-1 after two.

A couple of hits, a couple of walks and an error led to three more Roswell runs in the third.  Roswell added another run in the fourth off of reliever Dato to push the score to 9-1.  The Bears offense got on track in the fifth, however.  Nicholas Armstrong led off with a single before walks to Tommy Fester and Cody Rech loaded the bases.  Danny DeSousa then walked to drive in a run and two more came in on a Ryan Todd infield single to close the gap to 9-4.

Cambridge never threatened after that point and the game ended with a win for the home Hornets.  Pollifrone took the loss, his first on the season.  Todd, Friedrick, Armstrong and Rech accounted for the Cambridge offense, while Todd had two RBI.

Cambridge kicks off region play with a game Wednesday, March 6th at Centennial HS.  Game time is 5:55 PM.

Go Bears!
