Bears Varsity Baseball Defeats West Forsyth 10-4, Wednesday, Feb. 27th
The Cambridge varsity baseball squad hosted its first home game of the year Wednesday night, Feb. 27th versus the West Forsyth Wolverines.  The Bears were looking to build off of a successful outing Monday and string a couple of wins together for the first time this season.  Cambridge sent Casey Young to the mound looking for his first victory of the year.

The visitors got the leadoff runner on, but he was prompltly eliminated on a nice double play by Cody Rech to Young covering the bag at first.  Moving to the bottom of the first, Cambridge secured the initial run of the game.  Hot-hitting Jackson Woods led off with a double just inside the line at third before advancing on a ground out by Ryan Todd.  He later scored by error on a fly ball to right, putting Cambridge up 1-0.

Young worked a scoreless second and Cambridge wasted a Mitch Fleming single.  The visitors took the lead in the third courtesy of a walk and three singles to go up 3-1.  That lead would not last long as the home team plated six runs in the bottom of the inning.

Grayson Dato led off the inning with a single and later scored on a double by Danny DeSousa.  Woods then tied the game with a single to right.  Ryan Todd drove in Woods on a single to center to give Cambridge a 4-3 lead.  Ross Friedrick singled before Fleming came to the plate and proceeded to drive a ball well over the fence in left center for a 3-run blast and a 7-3 lead.

Neither team threatened in the fourth.  Turner Rosenbaum replaced Young on the mound in the fifth and pitched a scoreless frame.  He gave up a run in the sixth courtesy of a couple of walks and a single to make the score 7-4.  But any thoughts of a rally soon ended in the bottom of the sixth.

Woods drove in a run via single and another run scored on a bases loaded walk to Todd.  Friedrick drove in the final run of the game on a sac fly to left to make the score 10-4.  Kenny Rosenbloom entered the game in the seventh and pitched a scoreless inning to close out the game.

Jackson Woods was the offensive star for the second straight game, going 4 for 4, with two RBI and three runs scored.  Mitch Fleming provided the power with his second home run of the season, a single and three RBI.  Young got the win going four innings, allowing three runs on five hits with a couple of strikeouts.

Cambridge next plays a couple of games this week against cross-town rival Milton.  Game one is Friday night, March 1st at home at 5:55 PM, and game two is Saturday, March 2nd at Milton at 2 PM.
