Bears Varsity Baseball Loses Non-Region Tilt to King's Ridge 5-4, Saturday, April 7

Cambridge played one final non-region game on Saturday, April 7th, before embarking on a two week stretch of seven region games beginning Monday.  The Bears threw six different pitchers in the warmup and nearly pulled the game out after going down by five, eventually losing 5-4.  The Cambridge offense only accounted for three hits on the day, while the Cambridge staff only allowed five hits.

King's Ridge jumped on the board early, scoring two runs in the first, two more in the second and another in the third to take a 5-0 lead after three. The visiting Bears put two on the board in the fifth.  Mitch Fleming walked to lead off the inning and scored on a Justin Tanguay triple to center.  Andrew Spears drove Tanguay in on a sacrifice fly to narrow the gap to 5-2.

Cambridge added two more in the seventh courtesy of walks to Cody Rech and Tanguay and a two-out double by Ross Friedrick.  The tying run was left stranded, however, and the game ended with a 5-4 defeat.

Evan Pollifrone worked the first inning to take the loss.  Johnny Eneberg, Kenny Rosenbloom and Ben LaCombe each worked scoreless innings on the mound.  Friedrick led the offense with the two-RBI double and Tanguay had an RBI triple.

Cambridge picks back up with region play on Monday April 9th with a home game against Chattahoochee.  Game time is 5:55 PM.

Go Bears!
