Cambridge needed to atone for a poor performance earlier in the season against Dunwoody, and they did just that with a solid 8-3 victory at Dunwoody Monday night, April 10th. With the win Cambridge moves into third place with a 7-5 record, a game out of second, with four region games remaining. 

Austin Weiermiller took the mound for the Bears and received a rare measure of support from his teammates.  The senior pitched a complete game while the offense generated its eight runs on eleven hits.  The fireworks began in the third inning as Cambridge put four on the board.  Teddy Egan led off the inning with a clean single to right and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Crew Cohoes.  A Cameron Moore walk and a Bradley Wiedman single pushed the first run across.  Senior Jake Swiacki then lofted a long double to the fence in right to make the score 3-0.  Swiacki would later score on a Dunwoody error to end the frame 4-0 for the visitors. 

Dunwoody wasted no time answering the Bears offense.  Three singles and a triple pushed the score to 4-3.  But the Cambridge lefty buckled down after that inning and never allowed the home team a chance to get back into the game.  Meanwhile, the Cambridge hitting attack continued.  Michael Kolesar led off the fifth with a gigantic home run to right to give the visitors a little more cushion at 5-3. 

Cameron Moore doubled to lead off the seventh before scoring on a pair of wild pitches.  Mitch Fleming drove in the final two runs with a clutch single through the drawn in infield to make the final score 8-3. 

Weiermiller went the distance, allowing three runs on six hits with ten strikeouts.  Moore and Wiedman led the offense with a pair of hits.  Kolesar had the monster home run, and Swiacki and Moore had doubles. 

Cambridge continues region play with a home game against Chattahoochee on Wednesday, April 12th at 5:55 PM.
