Cambridge Varsity Baseball Loses Region Game to Northview 5-2, Monday, March 27th

In a rematch of a game that Cambridge won on Northview's home field to kick off region play, the visiting Titans returned the favor with a 5-2 victory on Cambridge's turf on Monday, March 27th.  Both sides played well, but the Titans offense was just a bit more potent on this night.

Hayden Onorato started on the hill for the Bears and pitched well.  He did get off to a bit of a rocky start in the first, allowing a couple of singles and a walk to load the bases.  Another single drove in a couple of runs, but a strikeout and a pickoff on the bases ended the rally with a 2-0 lead for Northview.  Cambridge answered with a run of its own in the bottom of the first.  Michael Kolesar led off with a double to right and moved to third on a fly ball to deep center.  Bradley Wiedman lined a double down the line to drive in Kolesar and move the score to 2-1.

Onorato cruised through the second, third and fourth innings.  He ran into a little trouble in the fifth allowing a run on a couple of singles and a sacrifice fly.  Blake Renner entered the game in the sixth and allowed a run to push the score to 4-1.  Cambridge added a run in the bottom of the sixth as Jake Swiacki singled then eventually scored on a Wiedman single.

Northview added an insurance run in the seventh on a bases loaded walk, and the Bears offense went down in order in the bottom of the inning to end the game at 5-2.

Onorato took the loss, going five innings and allowing three runs on four hits with six strikeouts.  Bradley Wiedman led the offense with a pair of hits and both RBIs, including a double.  Kolesar, Swiacki and Teddy Egan had the other Cambridge hits, Kolesar's hit being a double.

Cambridge continues region play with a game at Johns Creek Wednesday evening the 29th.  Game time is 5:55 PM.

Go Bears!
