Cambridge Baseball Loses 13-2 to Johns Creek, Wednesday, March 8th

The Wednesday night region game against Johns Creek got away from Cambridge as the result of a 9-run fourth inning for the visitors as the Bears suffer their first region loss of the year.

Cambridge jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead in the first.  Michael Kolesar reached on an error and moved to second on a botched pickoff.  Sam Waylock laid down a perfect sacrifice bunt, moving Kolesar to third.  Conner Young then lined a single down the right field line to make the score 1-0.  Cambridge threatened again in the second on a Blake Renner single, a Teddy Egan sacrifice bunt and a Kolesar single, but that would be it.

Johns Creek tied the score in the second on a couple of singles.  Then the wheels fell off in the fourth as four hits, a pair of walks and several miscues in the field allowed the visitors to score nine runs and blow open the game.  Johns Creek tacked on 3 more runs and Cambridge added a run in the sixth on a Cameron Moore fielder's choice to make the final score 13-2.

Austin Weiermiller suffered his first loss of the season, going 3 1/3 innings, allowing four hits and three earned runs.  Young led the offense with a pair of hits and an RBI.  Kolesar had a single and a run scored.

The Bears continue region play with a game Friday, March 10th at Pope HS.  Game time is 5:55 PM.

Go Bears!
